Stuckless Consulting Inc. was proud to sponsor the participation of two Canadian non-profit organizations in the 2023 North American Bikeshare & Scootershare Association (NABSA) Conference. Ecology Action Centre was one of the organizations who attended with support from our firm. They recently shared an Op-Ed with some of the lessons they learned at the conference and their advice for moving forward with bike share in Halifax. Their main takeaway? Municipalities should view bike share as a public service, like public transit.
One of my professional goals is to grow access to bike share and see thriving systems in more communities across the country. The NABSA Conference is an incredible venue to learn more about planning, launching, and operating bike share, and I wanted as many communities to attend as possible, especially since the conference was taking place in Canada for the first time!
I believe that non-profits have an important role to play in these conversations, but I also know from first hand experience how hard it can be to fund conference participation in non-profits budgets.
